A little about me
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always had a heart for the medical field. When I was a child, my dream was to become a “baby nurse” and work in the NICU. As I grew older, I realized maybe my heart was too soft to handle the heaviness that profession can sometimes bring. I pursued different avenues as I grew into the adult I am now, venturing through paths to Pharmacist, MD, Physicians Assistant and Nurse. While pursuing my undergraduate education, I became really interested in muscles, bones, and nerves and the complexities of the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal systems. I also fell in love with weightlifting and exercise in general. If that doesn’t scream “BE A PHYSICAL THERAPIST” to you, I’d be shocked. But I was blind to it and, fought the idea for years.
Although I knew the area of medicine I was interested in, I had reservations about the career field. Physical therapists are often overworked and undervalued for their education and the costs associated with gaining that education. Work environments are not patient centered, productivity standards are hard to achieve, and the combination of those things drive a quantity over quality treatment approach. All things I was not interested in. But, when I had the opportunity to observe and participate in a different model of PT, I was sold. Physical therapists, working with a passion to help people achieve their goals and do the activities they love, are such a valuable part of healthcare. The problem is, health insurance doesn’t value patient’s quality of life, healthcare provider’s education and time, or improvements beyond “baseline”. It’s a broken system, and driven to be reactive, not proactive.
I set out on the journey to open my own practice to provide better physical therapy to Navarre and surrounding area. My goal is to provide excellent patient care as my number one priority, always. Not only am I passionate about rehabbing injuries, but I want to go beyond rehab. I strive to have patients leaving my care with a better quality of life, able to do things they couldn’t before. I believe that self-pay physical therapy is the only way to be able to truly pursue those goals and provide excellent care that every patient deserves. I value a patient’s time and investment into their treatment and match that with my own time and focused care to reduce overall frequency of visits and time to discharge.
